ArtArtArt

Over the summer I went to a 6 week pre-college program at RISD (which rawked btw). Here are a few of my favorite pieces I made while there. Enjoy!
Clown Painting
Mosaic Self Portrait (magazine pieces)

voila

There are a lot of interesting things going on in the east village, and there are always subjects to photograph. Whenever I'm really bored I go out with my camera and walk around. I was home sick for 3 days last week (not actually that sick at all), so took a bunch of pictures. These two are my fav's. Enjoy!

MudTruck / MudSpot

Anyone who lives downtown notices that big, bright, orange, Mud Coffee truck parked daily on Astor Place and Lafayette (or occasionally on Grove and 7th avenue), but not everyone knows how truly delicious what's inside the truck is. As fall approaches and it starts to get a bit chillier
outside, there is nothing better than picking up a good cup of coffee, a rich hot chocolate or a vegan muffin from the MudTruck

Also, most people don't know this but there is actually a Mud restaurant called the MudSpot located on 9th street between second and 1st avenues. Since I live a block away, I have been going to the MudSpot every weekend since I was 13, with friends and family. Everybody loves it. It has all of the same yummy coffees, teas, muffins and pastries as the MudTruck but it also has a full menu of food. The Panini , Nachos and Granola are for sure the best things on the menu. The MudSpot is always playing really good rock music, the vibe in there is really nice and the garden in the back is always very refreshing to be in.
The MudSpot is one of the true East Village Gems.
GO!

Velvet

Velvet Dresses are da bomb! Especially for fall, considering they are some what warm and look good with tights. I was at Screaming Mimi's http://www.screamingmimis.com/ this weekend with a few friends and they had an amazing collection of vintage designer velvet dresses, long sleeve, short sleeve, sleeveless, they had it all.

Portraits

So! You'll be seeing much more of my photography on this blog but here are a few of my favorite portraits i've taken recently! Enjoy!

Casimir

As an east village gal, I live my life surrounded by an extremely diverse range of restaurants both in style, price, and quality of food. One restaurant that is extremely under the radar is the classic french bistro Casimir located on Avenue B between 6th and 7th streets. I go here almost every weekend for sunday brunch with my Dad and it is never a let down.  We're Irish so by blood our favorite is the Norwegian Eggs with Salmon and potatoes, but if you're not feeling that you could always go for the mouth watering Buttermilk Pancakes. Casimir is also know for its Mimosas, yum yum. Oh yeah, and the interior is sick, you feel like you're in a cafe in Paris when you eat here, with the  antique wooden tables and chairs. Also there is an extremely cute garden in the back. There is never a wait to get into Casimir. It's the Pastis of the East village without the New Jersey weekenders, rude waiters and hipsters who barely eat (why are they there anyways?).

Hit up Casimir!

Oh Hey!

hello everyone, or no one, or anyone who somehow ended up here!

I'm Caity and this is my blog. This is basically just going to serve as a way for me to share all of the art, fashion, restaurants and people that inspire me. Slash, just going to be whatever i want cause I'm da boss on blogspot!
